AU TRAVERS DU CERCEAU
for piano (2011)

In this piece—the title of which could be translated as ‘through the hoop’—slow, polyphonic melodic lines are confronted, at irregular intervals, by another type of sound material which offers a total contrast with the first. The result is not so much a dialogue, even less a process in which materials are gradually transformed, but rather a fortuitous encounter between two very different sound worlds.

Une musique lente et polyrythmique est, à des intervalles irréguliers, confrontée à un autre type de matériau en tous points contrastant. Il ne s’agit pas d’un dialogue, encore moins d’un processus de transformation progressive, mais plutôt d’une rencontre fortuite entre deux matière sonores opposées.
